Engineering Intern Spotlight: Meet Collin & Nathan

Spring is officially here and that means it’s internship season at AdvantageCS! This year, we’re excited to welcome two interns to the company:

Collin Johnson AdvantageCS

Meet Collin Johnson

Collin Johnson from Dexter, Michigan, is pursuing a Computer Science & Engineering degree at the University of Michigan. He has always been interested in computer science but found his passion during high school when he joined the FIRST Robotics team as a programmer. Before joining AdvantageCS, Collin gained valuable experience at the University of Michigan ICPSR – Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research. He has returned to AdvantageCS for a second summer because of the engaging projects and valuable lessons he learned during his initial internship.

Currently, he is working on updating the help website to the next major version – watch out for future updates! His advice to future interns is that it’s okay to express when you don’t know something and to ask for help. Collin is looking forward to learning more about Advantage and how it’s developed. Outside of work, he enjoys being with his family and friends. A fun fact about Collin is that he is a member of the Michigan Marching Band, and he proudly marched in this year’s Rose Bowl Parade!

Meet Nathan Hasey

Nathan Hasey, born and raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan, is currently a senior at Eastern Michigan University, majoring in Computer Science. From a young age, he was always interested in computers, and anything related to them, possibly inspired by his father, Mike Hasey, who is the Engineering Services Manager for AdvantageCS. Before joining the team, Nathan gained experience as a food caterer for Angel Food Catering, even crossing paths with AdvantageCS before officially interning here.

Nathan was interested in working at AdvantageCS because of all the great stories shared by his father and brother, Will Hasey, who interned previously. Currently, Nathan is working with the Cloud team to help automate scripts and have them run through different pipelines. He enjoys how warm and friendly everyone is, with the daily healthy snack being his personal favorite. Although Nathan is still learning everything, he advises future interns to be open to learning new things and that everything has a purpose. He is looking forward to learning more about Azure DevOps and being in a professional engineering environment. Outside of work, Nathan enjoys anything that gets him outside, especially soccer. A little-known fact about him: despite being a college senior, he's only 18, thanks to dual enrollment, and aims to graduate before turning 20!
