Report from The Publishing Show

Dan Heffernan and Philippe Rowland attended The Publishing Show in London on March 8-9. The event was both a conference and exhibition aimed at B2B and B2C publishers, newspapers, content providers, and suppliers. Over 40 exhibitors were on hand to meet with clients and prospects, and over 100 speakers provided insights at sessions and workshops across 9 subject areas:

  • Technology & Innovation
  • Strategy & Transformation
  • Talent & Skills
  • Data & Analytics
  • Editorial & Content
  • Commercial & Ecommerce
  • Audience & Community Development
  • Subscriptions & Circulation
  • AdTech

Many of the sessions were just 25 minutes long which allowed the delegates to attend many sessions across the various subject areas of interest in a given day. The conference was well-attended, particularly the sessions. In fact, they were often standing-room-only.

It was an occasion to meet with clients, prospective clients, partners, potential partners and even our competition. AdvantageCS enjoys good relationships with our fellow suppliers in the various industries we serve.

The Publishing Show took place at ExCeL London, which is a venue with 100,000 square meters (over 1 million square feet) of flexible space, and has more than 20 restaurants and bars inside it. Sadly, this eliminated the critical networking that normally takes place over lunch and cocktails on the show floor. (We’ve already provided this feedback to the planners.)

This relatively new conference & exhibition has the potential to grow and become a major international publishing event. We will be following it closely.
